Why is gasoline price so high ($2.00)compared to the price, what crude oil per a barrel is now ($35.00)?

This past summer we paid $4.20 for a gallon of gas, when barrel of oil was around $140-147. Now the barrel of oil is around $35.00, but still paying $2.00 for gallon of gas, why isn't the gallon of gas cheaper considering that we are 1/4 of the price of which it was this past summer, shouldn't it be around $1.50 or less? Why is gasoline price so high ($2.00)compared to the price, what crude oil per a barrel is now ($35.00)?
Just be lucky your not in Canada.. This is the lowest we've payed in quite some time and it's around $3.50/gallon.

There was a new tax added which is why it's like that. They can make more profit. Why is gasoline price so high ($2.00)compared to the price, what crude oil per a barrel is now ($35.00)?
yes, it should. however with demand low the oil companies haven't even processed the oil they have on hand, so you are still buying gas from oil when it was 50-55 per barrell. it should drop, actually it should be around 1.40 per gallon based on the price of oil right now, but you have to give it 6 weeks or so to catch up.

also, where are you that gas is 2 per gallon? national average is about 1.75.
Gas prices are slowly creeping up. I live in virginia, usually one of the states with the lowest gas price, and we are at about $1.59! I think it's because it's a business, and they have to make a profit somehow, so they add a bit more to the price to put food on the table for all their workers.
how right you are. but we are living in greedy america remember that.
