President Bush is not making any money off of high oil prices. The oil companies are not making any money off of high oil prices. The OPEC nations are making buttloads off of high oil prices.





Consider this, though:





The oil companies make about 9 cents profits off of each gallon of gas. Exxon reports approximately $9 billion in profits for the first quarter. They had to buy the oil (at $75 per barrel, that means the oil companies pay about $1.78 per gallon), transport it to refineries, refine it, market it and distribut it.





The Federal government bears no burden of purchasing, shipping, refining, marketing or distributing, but they take 18.4 cents per gallon in excise taxes. This means that for doing NOTHING the government got $18 billion in the first quarter. And that is just off of Exxon ... there are 14 other major oil companies.





$9 billion for the company doing all the work vs. $18 billion for Uncle Sam who just stands there with his hand in your pocket while you pump.





Who do you think we should REALLY be trying to hold accountable???

IIRC the only President not to do this when entering office was Clinton.
I think he makes ton of moneys for his hardcore supports, but not himself. but keep in mind one thing he's original from CT and moved to Texas for some oil business.

Well since his income is made public by law each year and was just recently published... He made 763,000 last year. 410,000 was his salary as president of the US. The remainder was money from various investments and a trust in which he has an interest.

Bush isnt making any money off high gas prices. It is the sellers of the oil who make money somewhere in Saudi Arabia. Also, oil companies are the ones who would make some money. However, prices are rising because it is getting expensive for the oil companies to buy, so they mark up their prices in order to pay for these high prices. Bush doesnt get anything out of it. except maybe he boosts his connections he has with companies and the company leaders treat him well later on.
Anyone who ownes stock in oil companies will benefit if those companies make a profit. Does being a wise investor mean a person is doing something wrong?
It doesn't show up on his income tax - but I'll bet he's making tons. His whole family cashes in regularly. The Bushes should change their last name to Ca-Ching.

If you had been there, then you should know first hand the reason that we are still there. If we just pull out it will be worse for the people, so perhaps at current time we are not fighting solely for ourselves but for the Human Rights elsewhere. Perhaps you Bush Haters hate other countries as well, If we had not gone... people would currently mass murdered, plenty of proof there. If you don't like our military or our president, whether for your personal reasons or you are simply too cool and liberal ( by the way that is popular now, so try originality elsewhere) Move the hell out, go protect yourself. By the way Bush isn't making an obscene amount of money like so many ignorant people believe. Sure he is making a bit, but he doesn't have any input in his investments until out of office. I have a feeling that his profit margin hasn't increased since the war began. He was in oil before office I seriously doubt he took the effort to run in order to get rich, power maybe, but what politically minded person doesn't have the drive to hold the Big Daddy office? Zero. If you want to know who is keeping oil prices high its not Bush or Big oil. The big oil companies do not make that high a percentage of profit when compared to other industries. Those who regulate oil production to a degree that makes it extremely expensive, those who tax gas ( taxes on gas are higher than the profits ) and those who will not allow for new refineries are the ones to blame. A funny story. Bush tried to get legistation passed to drill oil in Alaska. It is possible that we will get more oil there than what the state of Texas provides. Many democrates blocked the measure. Whenever the media showed clips of where they would drill they showed beautiful mountains filled with trees. However, the actual site is baren. The Bush administration had to show the pictures on thier web site of the actual place they were wanting to drill to counter the liberal bias of the media. That liberal bias is probably what makes you think Bush is in with big oil.
