The price of gas is $1.75 nation wide these days. Why doesn't the price of motor oil go down? ?

The price of crude oil plummeted for the last four months or so and keeps falling as I am writing this question. As the price of gas falling because of falling crude oil price, how come the price of motor oil does not go down? Aren't both motor oil and gasoline from the same source: the crude oil? A quart of conventional motor oil costs about three to four bucks these days. The price has increased over the years and shot up for the last five months and it still is going north while gas price has been going down south since august. Can anyone explain this phenomenon? The price of gas is $1.75 nation wide these days. Why doesn't the price of motor oil go down? ?
This 'phenomenon' is called politics. It's the same reason that even though the price of oil has dropped, nothing else has. Not just the price of motor oil.The price of gas is $1.75 nation wide these days. Why doesn't the price of motor oil go down? ?
Same thing for grocery prices! The stores milk the increase for all that they can....

Without going to the oil companies, my best bet would be supply and demand.

Think about it. How often to you fill up? Now how often do you change oil?

You're right, both products come from the same source but we use far more gasoline than we do engine oil. I suspect they are just making less oil than gas. Just like cars. They build a lot more Hondas than they do Porsche's.
You must also account for the additives that come in your oil. Motor oil is more complicated then you may imagine.
Have you wondered why gas went down randomly? It's the gas companies. Supply and demand. They know we NEED it, and they know we're willing to pay for it. The price went down because the UN has been screaming at them for a long time now, lol. Oil is still high because they don't feel like lowering the price.
