I bet the question sounded really good in your head.Is anyone disgusted at how high oil prices is going to be used as give away to the oil companies?
I guess we should all hate big oil and work to penalize successful companies like you do. They are profitable, so they must be corrupt and be the cause of our plight today.
After all, why do they deserve to be rewarded for surviving the hard times of a few years ago when oil was $10/bbl? Didnt we bail them out then by buying their overpriced gasoline?
Why do they and their investors deserve to profit from having the insight and wisdom to invest against the odds in an ever shrinking resource?
Why should they profit from the dangers of explosion, fire, and poison gas that they battle on a daily basis so that the rest of us can drive 1-person per vehicle in air conditioned comfort in our $50,000 SUV's?
I'll tell you why. Because free enterprise is the American way. Get on board, or get out of the way. But dont drag us down.
FYI, if you want, you can bid on the offshore oil leases too. It is not a give-away. The MMS makes BILLIONS of dollars a year selling the right to explore on its leases. Big oil can sometimes spend hundreds of millions of dollars to win the lease, conduct seismic, and perform exploration drilling. All that, and the lease may come up dry -- there are no guarantees of success. If you want to take on the risk that after 5-10 years and hundreds of millions, sometimes a billion dollars of sunk costs, that there MIGHT be enough oil there to recoup your investment, and the future oil price MIGHT be high enough for you to actually make a profit before some hurricane comes through and wipes out all your hard work -- please -- be my guest. Get some of your buddies and investors together, and and roll the dice. The opportunity is there for you too, if you have the balls to take it.Is anyone disgusted at how high oil prices is going to be used as give away to the oil companies?
It has to be a hardship or the world won't ever get off of being depend ant on oil forever...kicking and screaming but sooner
or later we are going to have to get off of being dependent on oil.
Pay me now or pay me later..the future generations will be better for our sacrifice
Ah you caught that did you?
Give them a military base, a free refinery, and some cheap leases, and what do you have?
the tax payer paying the high price to refill the strategic reserve, until the prices come down and the refinery can buy it at half the price.
The way it works is a president gives perks to major contributes of there campaign as well as Friends, and organizations that are close to the administration. You scratch my back and I';ll scratch yours.
Yea, but what are we Americans going to do about it, whine as usual, or really do something.
... if McCain is elected, there is no way it will happen with Obama.
Eh, sure????
whuut?
