News says that oil prices dropped by $3 but thats a bad thing. I dont understand, I thought we WANT low prices

im not much of economist so can you explain to me why lower gas prices (which is what the world has been raving about for the past 8 years) is a bad thing now.News says that oil prices dropped by $3 but thats a bad thing. I dont understand, I thought we WANT low prices
Where have gas prices gone down $3? In my area, they have gone down about a penny!

Maybe the owner of the TV station has heavy investments in the oil markets, or something. The rest of us DO want lower gas prices - we want them DESPERATELY and we want them QUICKLY!

High energy costs ARE negatively impacting EVERY aspect of the average person's quality of life and there is NOTHING bad about easing this cruel financial oppression!

Sure, some will inevitably pontificate about ecology and ';going green'; but WHO in our modern urban society is set up to drive a donkey cart to work and take their laundry down to the river and beat it on the rocks?

Our culture is STRUCTURED around the generation of energy via the use of petrochemical fuels.

As it stands right now, only the RICH can afford adequate access to and ample use of those fuels and only those SAME rich can afford the ';green'; alternatives currently being offered! Yeah, I would LOVE a new electric car - or even a good hybrid - but the price of a new car is so far beyond my reach that the dealerships all might as well be located on the MOON! And EVERY fill-up, in the gas-guzzler I am stuck with now, takes me that many dollars further away from saving up enough to replace it with something I can afford to drive!

Those who squawk the loudest for us everyday people to voluntarily diminish the quality of OUR lives are NOT cutting their own lifestyles back one bit!

When Al Gore was spouting off the loudest and strongest about ';Global Warming';, it came out on the news that the electric bill for his HOUSE, for ONE MONTH was around $30,000.00! And he has the nerve to promote the idea that we who struggle to pay residential electric bills of $150 to $200 a month should dull-down OUR lifestyles?!?!?!?! After learning about that, I was SICK with disgust to see him win a Nobel Prize for his hypocrasy!

I would guess that the newscast you were talking about was born of this same brand of inexcusable and totally reprehensible hypocrasy.

It is astonishing what people will turn a blind eye to and ignore today! At least YOU were aware enough to catch this and question it.News says that oil prices dropped by $3 but thats a bad thing. I dont understand, I thought we WANT low prices
if fuel prices go down, the initiative to go green is lost and a lot of companies and people who go green or went green will lose a lot of money. It also depends on how you are playing the stock market. I would love to see oil hit 200 bucks a barrel so people are forced to search for alternative fuels and our own oil (maybe), instead of being dependent on terrorists for our energy.
Without hearing the logic (if any) of the newscast, it's hard to imagine why -- other than news people think virtually everything is bad news. It's bad news when it rains. It's bad news when it doesn't rain.
