Are the politicians in Washington ever going to understand what the rise in oil prices are doing to us?

we have spent billions of dollars in iraq and afganistan yet we get nothing for our money and of coarse the lives of our men but oil prices that are begining to cripple our economony i have had enough i think it's time for the american citizens to revolt aganst the fat cats on wall street an in washington who become millionaires and we can't pay our utilitiy bills something is wrong and if it is not delt with soon we will go by the way of the roman empireAre the politicians in Washington ever going to understand what the rise in oil prices are doing to us?
US top trade groups already demand an end to oil speculation, but Congress do not act and Media do not report

';Leading energy experts across the country agree that recent, unprecedented jumps in crude oil prices are due, in large measure, to rampant speculation in the energy commodities markets.”

“19 of the nation’s top trade associations, consumer groups and labor organizations, the coalition urges “immediate reform in the widely-speculative energy commodity futures markets.”

Oil prices haven't risen. The dollar declined. The fact that so few people understand that is most of the problem.
They understand all too well, they just don't care. Our government is made up of oilmen,
I guess your not old enough to remember this, but in the late 50's, the USSR Premier, Nikita Kruschev, said at the UN that the people of America will one day raise the flag of Communism themselves. Could rising oil prices be the catalyst? I hope not.
The Republicans understand your concern. Bush has been trying to lower YOUR gas prices for 8 years now. The US has tremendous natural wealth. We could be enjoying $1.50 a gallon gas right now with no budget deficit and NO NATIONAL DEBT, if we would just drill for oil. Democrats do not like oil. Dont forget that Barack is ok with the high gas prices. He thinks its a deterrent from using oil. He just wishes it wouldnt have gone up in price so fast.
Oil prices go for a jump

went for a ride and got a bump

politicians are like snake

they never regret a mistake

government made of honey

they all got my money

no car to drive must use the jackass

cant take the this crap of my mind

Sorry life if full of it!!!!!!!
The reason for high oil prices is primarily lack of supply. We have likely passed peak oil production, which means the oil cannot be got out of the ground any faster. The only way that the price will go down is by reduced demand, either by people driving less, or because of an economic slowdown.
No! because with money comes a level of ignorance
Not until each of us tells our government we have had enough of their bulls..t and wont take it anymore. Did you see we are going to spend another 20 million dollars to help dismantle North Koreas nuclear plant ? Great country we live in
They know! They don't care! Why doesn't anybody get that?
Of course they understand. There is hardly anything they can do about peak oil except gain control of the area in which most of the oil reserves sit in the Earth. It's not rocket science it is extremely simple. Cheap oil is a thing of the past because production has peaked and demand is growing. There is not enough to go around and it will only get worse. At current world production level there is not enough to go around under normal circumstances, normal circumstances being what the world was consuming at the beginning of the year. Prices are high at the pumps to stop people consuming as much of the stuff, not to bring prices down because that will never happen again but to slow what is to become the downward slope to oblivion. There is no alternative that can take over from oil. It is all about prolonging the oil age for as long as they can whilst they make as much money from oil while there is still some of the stuff left in the ground, in the impossible hope that they can come up with an alternative (not going to happen) that will be economically viable enough to replace oil and keep the world turning as well as it is today, which in all honesty is not very well at all now is it.
You have a right to be outraged. Our economy is being crippled. We aren't fighting in Iraq for oil. We have plenty in the US (because of bans we only produce 3%) - but we have plenty more - enough to last until we develop viable aternatives. We need to drill our own oil, stop our dependence on foreign oil, provide jobs (on rigs and refineries) for Americans. You can let Congress know how you feel with this petition:

Actually, gas is actually close in price, in real dollars, to what it has been historically. We just get used to a dollar figure and when it goes up we go nuts. Just be glad you don't have to fill your car up with orange juice!!!
They simply do not care. That's what happens when you give these pigs too much power.
You're mistaking the politicians in Washington for people who actually give a damn.

Everything is going according to plan. THEIR plan.
Understanding and caring about it are not mutually inclusive.
Americans demand nothing, and so their plight will continue to worsen.
