Although airlines buy ';futures'; how long will it take for the current oil prices to drive them out of business

Or will US tax money be used to bail them out yet again?Although airlines buy ';futures'; how long will it take for the current oil prices to drive them out of business
The next step is to charge for checked luggage, then carry on bags. After that, there would be no in flight service at all and a reduction in flight attendants. Flights less than a certain percentage sold would be cancelled.Although airlines buy ';futures'; how long will it take for the current oil prices to drive them out of business
Those firms are worth an amazing amount of money.

You can't buy them for a decent penny...

Chi, you have to buy the bonds and the stock. The bondholders have claims if the stocks go to 0.

A few years ago, Ford's stock was low. But, you would have had to have bought about $100 BILLION worth of debt if you wanted complete title to the firm. Airlines are the same. They've very leveraged. But, you can't own them 100% unless you buy the debt too.

Those bonds are worth a lot of money because the firms have so many assets.

A person has to be on crack to think that America will stop flying at current oil prices.
some smaller airlines have already gone belly up. Airlines will never go away completely.
We need air travel....
