We all shouldn't accept the stupid nonsense vague reasons that oil companies give us just to jack-up their profits while the poor people of the world suffer more from the repercussions of oil price increase! The prices you read about are not controlled by oil companies. If you really must assign blame, direct it at speculators.





And the reason ';fear'; drives the prices higher is because they realize that any disruption to the supply of oil (i.e. terrorist attacks on pipelines, economic sanctions on terroris-sponsoring Venezuela, war, etc) will drive the underlying price of oil higher.Oil prices!?!?! its not the oil companies, its the american government causing problems everywhere in the world. the supply and demand of oil hasnt changed much at all in the last 20 years. what has changed it the value of the dollar because we have committed economic suicide since bush has gotten in office. all of america's problems are created by itself, it has always been that way. we alienate and threaten most of the major oil suppliers of the world and then wonder why the price of oil goes up. meanwhile our own oil companies wont pump OUR oil out of the ground unless they are allowed to sell it overseas.


venesueala is one of our biggest oil suppliers, yet we threaten them, try to take over thier democratically elected government and install a dictatorship. no wonder they dont want to sell us oil anymore.
The OIl Companies, do not control the price of oil.





The oil companies, have to BUY oil from other nations.





Maybe it's time you realised, that America does not control the worldwide price of oil.





The Nations exporting the oil and the commities brokers control the price.
I agree with you. The saddest part about ALL of this is that people actually are DEFENDING this practice and the oil companies!





It USED to be illegal for companies to raise prices based on FUTURES that the price at the pump now reflects without any pause...which is why the oil companies are making in record profits and people are suffering like they are. Regan got rid of THAT safeguard.





But I want to add that the Democrats AND Republicans are BOTH to blame for the problems that we are currently having!
Why the hell are you still driving then? Why the hell don't you see that your country has a crappy debt+spending economy that's going to collaspe eventually? This is just the beggining. You Americans are going to get hit even harder when the world finally decides that the US dollar is completely worthless and the world must circulate commodities in Euro/Yen or any stable/strong currency to survive.
