If the price of Crude Oil was the measure of a presidents success, would Bush's ratings be higher than 17% ???

Have the American citizens just been to harsh on President Bush. Surly he deserves to be in the 20 percental range. If the price of Crude Oil was the measure of a presidents success, would Bush's ratings be higher than 17% ???
When things go well sometimes the President gets part of the credit. However, when things go south, society likes to find a place to put the blame....blame in someone other than one's self. This is human nature, and the President is a convenient target.

If you think about it, Bush was dealt a lousy hand. Look at the things that have happened on his watch of which he has little to no control: 9/11 and the war against terrorism, the credit crunch and housing bubble, high oil prices, increasing inflation, and a weakening dollar.

Did the President make us buy gas guzzling SUV's or homes in the suburbs where we have a 30-mile commute to work each day? Did he train the terrorists and give them plane tickets for their 9/11 attack? Did he make us buy those ARM's that we could not afford without reading the fine print and even attempting to understand the risk? Did he impose the restrictions on offshore drilling that have been in place for the last 20 years? Did he tell us that oil will always be cheap, and we should ignore the warning signs of the Arab Oil Embargo of the 1970's and the oil price spikes of the 1980's? Did he invent fossil fuels and global warming? I think not. We need to suck it up and take some personal responsibility for those actions, and those mistakes.

The only thing for which Bush has 100% control and responsibility, which now looks bad is Iraq...but the jury is still out on that one. Look at Japan and Germany 50 years after the end of WWII. Lets not be too critical too soon.If the price of Crude Oil was the measure of a presidents success, would Bush's ratings be higher than 17% ???
yeah bush has screwed up...but people dont give him as much credit as he deserves...i mean since the price of gas has gone up his ratings have gone down...but over 50% of the country still voted him in 4 years ago.

so yes if the cost of oil were cheaper...his ratings would be higher
The president does not have control over oil or gas prices - it's an open market, and the prices have been rising due to speculation by investors. Get over yourself.
It doesn't matter. He'll be gone soon and history can start burnishing his ';legacy.'; Happened with Truman and Nixon, and it will happen with Bush.
You must be confused by the dem Congress's approval ratings. Bush certainly hasn't been that low in any poll unless it is one form Huffington Post or Daily Crock...
Bush has/had nothing to do with the price of gasoline. He is not the greatest or the worse President we have ever had. Peace
Bush is a liar and a thief.

Your a glutton for punishment.
He's lucky to not be considered for impeachment with a rating so low.
Is it not scarey that people like you will be voting in this or any election and do not have an economic clue.
Yeah can you Imagine if Congress and pelosi's thugs were held to the same standard 8%.
In fact,he deserves for -17%.
